Oh boy do I love
the mouth-watering smell of homemade apple crisp coming from the oven. One of
my favourite desserts with the sweet taste of apples, oats and brown sugar --
pour this popular and easy to make dish over vanilla ice cream and you have
heaven in a bowl. This is my mom's recipe -- I guarantee you will love the
yummy goodness.
Ingredients:
3 cups of peeled
and sliced Fuji apples
1 tbsp. of flour
¼ cup of white sugar
1 tsp. of cinnamon
1/8 tsp. of salt
1 tbsp. of water
Topping
ingredients:
½ cup of rolled
oats
¼ tsp. of salt
¼ cup of butter
1/3 cups of brown sugar
Preheat the oven
to 375 degrees and pre-grease your glass dish (I used two small ones)
In a bowl, mix
the apples, flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt and water. Taste an apple to make sure
it's sweet enough (some apples are more sour than others), add more white sugar
if necessary.
Pour the mixture
in the glass dish.
In another bowl,
mix the oats, salt, butter and brown sugar. Taste again, to make sure topping
is sweet enough, I love brown sugar so I add a little more!!!
Sprinkle the
topping on top of the apples.
Bake for 30-35
minutes. Let the dish cool and serve over vanilla ice cream.
